Keeping your Business Secure online is something that all business owners, staff and even customers should be mindful of when using online services. "Threats come from anywhere, every day of the week."
This LastPass Sponsored article will outline the bare minimum most people should be doing to protect their accounts online.
Practice good password management - Use a Reliable Password Manager
Nobody likes remembering passwords, let alone complex secure ones, it’s become a necessary evil of modern-day life online, unfortunately I all too often hear people say “oh I just use the same password for everything”.
Having one password for all your accounts leaves your online accounts open to quick attack, it only takes one of your accounts to become compromised by a data breach or a simple password brute force attack and now all of your accounts can be accessed.
I hear you saying but I don’t want to have to remember 10 to 100 long passwords that are all security with letters, numbers and symbols just to go about business.
The Good news is you don’t have to, LastPass it helps you store and generate strong secure passwords for ALL of your accounts and fills them in for you automatically across multiple devices in your bowser of choice with an extension when you visit a site on a logged in device.
This means you only have to remember ONE secure password and LastPass will do the rest!
With LassPass you can setup also setup Multi Factor Authentication so for example your phone can be used to approve access to the master account with a Fingerprint or Face Scan, so even if your LastPass password is exposed somehow the attacker would be blocked from logging in.
Even if your phone is stolen they won’t have your face or fingerprint so your passwords are secure.
I strongly encourage you to look at this Password Manager and how it can benefit you, click below to signup for a free account with a 30 day Premium trial:
Use SSL for your Website
SSL is used to encrypt information transferred across the Internet.
This encryption protects your ecommerce transaction information from getting intercepted by unwelcome eavesdroppers and is enabled through an SSL certificate that allows visitors to navigate a website over a secure connection. SSL Certificates are often an extra Yearly cost that varies from provider to provider. Jon Web Design includes SSL Certificates for all my Sitebuilder Solutions at no extra cost.
An SSL certificate can do more than just data encryption, it also serves as a powerful trust signal for your visitors, which can help increase sales, plus google will rank you higher amongst competitors that do not have SSL enabled.
If your current website does not have an SSL certificate, talk to me about setting one up!
Keep software up-to-date - Install Updates and Patches
Keeping your computers software and website update to date with updates and security patches is an easy way to ensure you have the latest security features.
Many people don’t know that their Wordpress or Joomla! Websites needs to be updated too.
This should be done by an experienced user as its not a simple process, not only will you have to keep the base platform up to date but you should update all the plugins that are required for your website.
My Sitebuilder Clients don’t have to worry about this inconvenience as Sitebuilder automatically installs update an security patches seamlessly.
