IndexNow: Another Search tool added to your Sitebuilder toolkit!

Jon Web Design • Nov 15, 2021

Sitebuilder now supports IndexNow, the new protocol that aims at making sure that a website’s most recent content is indexed by search engines. Last month, Bing & Yandex announced their support of the new protocol

IndexNow allows websites to submit new content directly to search engines and have it crawled promptly, this is in addition to what Jon Web Design does to index your websites with search engines like Google. As a result, search engines can keep their indexes and search results up to date with the most recent content.

How it works with your Sitebuilder website:

When you publish or update a site or page, Sitebuilder will automatically submit it to Bing, Yandex and all other search engines which support IndexNow. This will trigger a crawl from these search engines to update the content in their index, to show it faster to searchers.

Sitebuilder handles all the tasks of supporting the IndexNow API, including:

  • Discovering which pages have updated content and submitting only those to the IndexNow API.
  • Fulfilling IndexNow security measures by generating a unique token per website and submitting that to search engines. (This also ensures that no one can spoof updated content for your site.)
  • Automatically submitting updated content on your site.

If you are on the  latest Sitebuilder you don’t need to lift a finger!

The best news is that you don’t need to do anything at all to take advantage of this improvement. It’s automatic. And as always, if you don’t want your context indexed by search engines, you can turn off indexing in the page settings of each page.
